Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo

Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo

$16.00

In all our production this is certainly the most versatile wine, deriving from the piedmont and hillside vineyards of Montepulciano, where the temperature changes, the exposure and the right harvest time make this wine express a good acidity and, at the same time, a structure worthy of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. Every year our greatest effort is to select the most suitable grapes for the production of Cerasuolo, distinguishing them from those that will later be chosen for red vinification. In 2010 Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo was the first rosé wine to be recognized as a DOC (Controlled Designation of Origin). To the eye, Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo presents very intense and bright cherry pink shades. On the palate, however, its fruity and spicy notes are appreciable with a structure approaching the one of a red. The nose shows delicate notes of raspberry, pomegranate, cherry, geranium and carnation, with a delicately spicy undertone.

Matchings: grilled white meats, medium-aged cheese, shellfish, and – why not – even vegetables. A companion to a thousand events, it can be with us throughout the year, from the warm days spent in the summer sun to the rosy sunsets of autumn.

Serving temperature: 8-10 degrees

Description

Our Territory represents the glue of our whole company, since this is the original idea which united us from the beginning. Abruzzo is a land in which we believe so much: from here comes the idea of combining our know-how with the tradition of the Abruzzo’s Pergola, actually the main breeding method in the area. This is why we have set ourselves the goal of making the whole World know all the peculiarities the Pergola can express, allowing an optimal production both in terms of quality and quantity. An expression of nature incomparable to others, which can better adapt itself to the climatic changes of Central Italy, thanks to the fact that it can construct a “shade cloth” with vegetation. In fact, plants cover the entire vine surface creating a protection for the bunches, preserving them from sunburn and allowing the single grape to express itself at its best, as those primary aromas – which we will later find in the bottle – are not oxidized. We are talking about an extraordinary and historical method which is currently a candidate for UNESCO’s Heritage status. This is an added value which sets us apart from the worldwide wine proposal and which goes along with all the benefits of biodynamic agriculture. A method that recalls old agriculture, a return to the origins (our grandparents’) through a non-intensive production rejecting the use of chemicals.

For a conscious choice that wants to bring the public as close as possible to a natural product, far from market winemaking. Organic and biodynamic grapes are enhanced by a very low percentage of sulfur dioxide and antioxidants.
